Family physician Dr. Angie Layme joined EliteCare Health Centers, Brooksville, Florida after acquiring 10 + years of experience. She was the youngest graduate in her class in 2007, having completed her pre-medical training and earning her medical degree at UNIBE (Universidad IberoAmericana in the Dominican Republic).

Dr. Layme was raised in Orlando after being born in New Jersey. She is bilingual and speaks both Spanish and English fluently .After receiving her medical degree, she spent a year transitioning into family medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital San German in San German, Puerto Rico, where she won a prize for outstanding patient care performance in the Pediatrics department.

She is an active member of the American Medical Association, the Hispanic Health Professionals Association of New York, and the Puerto Rico College of Physicians & Surgeons. She believes that education is the key to providing patients with the best possible care.

“When patients are aware of their conditions, they tend to be more compliant with the medications and have a better quality of life,” says Dr. Layme. “Establishing a good patient/doctor relationship is extremely important,” she adds. She believes that the best feedback she can ever receive from a patient is “Thank you for explaining things to me and taking your time, I appreciate it.”

Dr. Layme's mother has been her strongest ally throughout her journey, offering her emotional, spiritual, and mental support. She has one son, whose company she adores. They enjoy going to the movies, playing football, and golfing together. Dr. Layme is known for volunteering her time for social causes that she believes in.
